Naps for Mommy?

Have you ever spent 30 minutes trying to take a 15 minute nap, and if you're lucky you might actually sleep for 5 minutes? Even when you try to think of everything in preparation of that coveted nap, you can count on something unexpected arising. You wait until the baby is down for a nap, make sure everyone has gone potty, selectively choose a highly entertaining T.V. show sure to keep children of all ages and genders spell bound for at least 15 minutes, give them snacks and drinks, and even turn off the phone. Then despite all of your efforts there's "Mommy, when are you going to wake up?" and "Mommy, she's touching my blankie!" and then the wiggly 3 year old starts climbing all over you. After sufficient yelling and threats, you FINALLY fall asleep! It feels so nice for that moment . . . only to be awaken by the neighbor friend seeking a playmate pounding down the door and repeatedly ringing the doorbell. You're desperate to answer it so the sleeping baby won't be awoken! And you know that the pounding and ringing won't stop until you DO answer it! The children are shouting in the background, "Yeah! Mommy's awake! Finally! Mommy, you were asleep a LONG TIME!!!" Oh well, better luck next time!

So funny! The Jehovah's Witnesses interrupted my first nap in a year. Seriously. IT's so not worth it!

oh, i am so sorry! i love the afternoon nap, especially while i am pregnant!

i don't know why, but my kids have always been very good about letting me nap. i put the baby to nap and set lala infront of a movie or she plays on nickjr.com and i crawl into my bed until we need to pick up nani from school (sometimes that can be 2 hours!!). the difference is probably that nani is in school so lala is on her own and doesn't have a sibling to bother or be bothered by!

what you need to do is send them off for a playdate and then nap!!
